Three American foundations, Carnegie Corporation of New York, Richard Lounsbery Foundation, and The Stirling Foundation have awarded grants to American Councils for International Education to create a Ukrainian Visiting Scholars Program (VSP). The program will support displaced Ukrainian university faculty and researchers whose work has been disrupted by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and continuing violence. The VSP allows affected scholars and teachers from Ukraine to resume their work in safer parts of the country, or at institutions outside the country.

The University of Antwerp offers a variety of scholarships for researchers and scholars.

The Sts. Cyril and Methodius Faculty of Theology at the Palacký University Olomouc awards fellowship programs for students and researchers from Ukraine working in the field of theology, social work, and media ethics. The fellowship is awarded for two to six months. Individual support according to the applicants needs will be provided.

Hunter College of the City University of New York is continuing to accept applications from undergraduate students for the Spring 2023 semester. Students who are affected by war and global events can submit their applications to CUNY.

In solidarity with researchers affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Fondation Maison des sciences de l’homme is redeploying its reception facilities in order to respond to the emergency. The aid consists of different research residency at either the Maison Suger in Paris or a preselected reseach facility in France. The FMHS presents applications with the following three options:

The City University of New York offers over 1750 programs at 25 different colleges for both the spring and the fall semester of 2023.

Patty A. Gray is a professional copyeditor and a former academic. She is a fluent Russian speaker and offers pro-bono copyediting of English-language texts in the service of any efforts of assistance to Ukrainians, Belarusians, or Russians displaced by Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Each year the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries. These scholarships are aimed at young researchers from abroad who have completed a master’s degree or PhD and at foreign artists holding a bachelor’s degree.

The DAAD would like to enable students and graduates from Ukraine to attend higher education institutions in Germany. Therefore, applications for DAAD scholarship programmes for stays in Germany are still regularly possible.

The University of Tübingen offers a number of support options for people affected by the war in Ukraine. In particular, the university created Research Fellowships for researchers at risk from Ukraine.

Individuals directly impacted by the war with faculty positions at Ukrainian universities and who are engaged in academic research have the opportunity to resume their academic pursuits at Purdue, or those enrolled in doctoral programs at Ukrainian universities who are at the dissertation research stage of their degree program.
