We are now welcoming applications for up to six scholarships for visiting Ukrainian researchers with a placement at CBEES or another department/centre/unit at Södertörn University. This fellowship programme is specifically tailored for postdoctoral researchers, lecturers, and professors currently residing and working on-site at higher education institutions or research institutes in Ukraine. While we deeply value the contributions of Ukrainian researchers abroad, this particular programme is designed to support those currently based in Ukraine.
We particularly welcome applications from colleagues in the social sciences, humanities, teacher education, and environmental sciences. As the fellowship is closely connected to Södertörn University’s research profiles, applications will only be considered from scholars working within these subject areas.

Placement and activity
During their temporary placement at Södertörn University, the visiting researchers are expected to expand their academic networks and actively participate in the University’s research environment. The visiting researchers are required to be physically present on site for the full duration of their placement and are expected to present their ongoing research at a suitable academic event, such as an advanced seminar or a comparable forum.
Qualifications
You are qualified to apply to the URFP Visiting Researcher Programme if you are currently working as a lecturer, postdoctoral researcher, or professor on-site at a higher education institution or research institute in Ukraine.
You must be able to express yourself well in English, both orally and in writing.
Terms of the scholarship
This call is open for scholarship stays starting in Spring 2027. Scholarships awarded in this application round must be used during the coming semester and cannot be postponed. The earliest possible starting month is January 2027.
The available funding is expected to support up to six scholarship stays of one to three months (up to 90 days) at Södertörn University. One of the scholarships may be awarded for a longer stay, up to six consecutive months (180 days).
Applicants should indicate in their application if they wish to be considered for a longer stay of up to six months. If one six-month scholarship is awarded, the total number of scholarships may be reduced accordingly. The final number, duration, and distribution of scholarships will be determined by the selection committee.
Please note that stays exceeding 90 days require a residence permit. Applicants interested in the six-month stay are advised to consider the time needed to complete the residence permit application process before the start of their stay.
While scholarship stays may extend beyond the spring semester, applicants are strongly encouraged to plan their stay within the spring semester whenever possible. Please note that university activity is significantly lower between mid-June and mid-August due to the summer holiday period.
The scholarship fully covers living expenses in Stockholm, as well as travel costs from and back to Ukraine.
Södertörn University has a limited number of accommodation options for visiting researchers, but availability cannot be guaranteed. Therefore, participants should be prepared to arrange their own accommodation in Stockholm in case of unavailability.

The application should contain a personal letter and a CV. In your personal letter, describe what you plan to do as a visiting researcher at Södertörn University and indicate the preliminary length of your intended research visit.
