Cara’s Palestine Virtual Fellowship Scheme is a one-year research Fellowship that aims to connect Palestinian academics and UK Universities in a structured programme of research partnership and academic exchange. Working together with 7 leading UK Universities, this pilot programme aims to contribute to strengthening resilience in Palestinian Higher Education by enabling the continuation of scholarly activity through peer support and partnership.
Fellowships Terms of Reference
Each Fellowship includes academic affiliation with a UK university, connection to UK based academic peers, access to digital resources, and professional training, wellbeing provisions and networking opportunities offered through the UK University, Cara and partner organisations. Fellows will receive a stipend of £6,000 to support participation in the programme and research engagement funds for project-related expenses. Fellows residing in Gaza will receive an additional £2,000 location supplement.
Selected fellows are expected to actively participate in the programme throughout the Fellowship period. We are delighted to be working together with 7 leading UK Universities on this pilot programme:

Eligibility
Applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
- Hold a PhD degree
- Be employed by, or maintain an ongoing affiliation with, a Palestinian University in Gaza or the West Bank
- Reside in Gaza or the West Bank
- Have a level of English that is of a standard suitable for academic work and exchange
- Meet Cara’s At-Risk assessment

Applications must be made through the online application form linked at the end of this section.
All applications must include a research proposal, CV, Official letter of support from the applicant’s home university, and Evidence of English Language ability, in addition to other documentary requirements. Applicants are requested to select up to three universities from our seven partner universities to host them throughout their fellowship.
