Through the Future Ukraine initiative by the German Academic Exchange Service, the Univeristy of Gießen can offer 5 scholarships in the research fields of history, language, literature, cultural studies or social sciences to PhD researchers, that have fled from Ukraine to Germany.

All scholarship holders should be enrolled at the University of Giessen. The Giessen Center for Eastern European Studies and the international office of the University of Giessen can advise about bureaucratic formalities, such as application, visa issues, enrollment, etc. To apply for the scholarships, eligible applicants must provide in Ukrainian, English or German a short CV, a motivation letter, a copy of the master's diploma, a proof of B2-proficiency in either German or English and a working title and abstract of the potential dissertation project.
